STM32 Industrial Embedded Development Solution For Disposable ECG Electrode Production Line

Embedded control system acts as the core underlying framework of automatic ECG electrode production equipment. The whole set of dispensing, die cutting, conductive testing and waste removal stations rely on industrial MCU to realize coordinated scheduling. We adopt STM32 series industrial chip plus lightweight RTOS as the core architecture to achieve stable (110 pcs/min) continuous production while satisfying strict GMP medical production standards.

1. Underlying Hardware & RTOS Basic Architecture

The main controller uses industrial-grade STM32 MCU with multi-channel ADC analog acquisition and high-speed PWM output ports. It collects real-time signals of glue pressure, feeding displacement and electrode resistance, and precisely controls servo motors and dispensing valves via pulse signals.

Lightweight real-time operating system solves multi-station timing conflict problems through task priority scheduling. EMC anti-interference underlying drivers are pre-integrated to avoid signal drift and misdetection caused by workshop electromagnetic environment, greatly improving long-running stability of medical production equipment.

2. Core Functional Layer: Closed-Loop Process & Safety Interlock

Two major functional modules are developed based on embedded programs: full process closed-loop control and multi-level safety protection interlock.

For conductive detection: Embedded edge calculation algorithm quickly distinguishes qualified and defective electrodes, and triggers automatic diversion to reject unqualified products in real time. For abnormal conditions including material breakage, gel offset and die wear, high-priority interrupt tasks will be activated to trigger sound-light alarm and equipment self-protection shutdown to prevent mass defective products.

The touch screen HMI is deeply coupled with underlying firmware, supporting one-click switching of multi-spec electrode formulas, local storage of production yield data and fault log recording without repeated program modification during mold replacement.

3. MES Docking & Data Traceability Interface

The embedded board reserves Modbus and Ethernet communication ports to seamlessly connect factory MES management systems. Real-time data including hourly output, finished product yield and equipment failure records can be uploaded automatically to realize full production data traceability, fully meeting medical device factory audit archive requirements.

4. Remote Upgrade & Subsequent Expansion Compatibility

The embedded firmware supports remote online upgrade. After-sales engineers can remotely calibrate motion parameters and fix program bugs without traveling to the customer’s factory, cutting maintenance travel costs.

Extended IO channels are reserved on hardware, allowing later addition of visual inspection and automatic palletizing modules without replacing the main control board, realizing iterative upgrade of production lines for long-term factory expansion.
